Cloud & Platform Engineering

Solution walkthrough

Move between cloud platforms

Plan workload and service changes, rebuild the destination foundation and test application behavior before the transition. Current engagement: AWS to GCP migration.

Example workflow: Cloud and platform teams.

Discuss this use case

The operating problem

An application estate needs to move from AWS to Google Cloud while preserving application behavior and a tested recovery route. The work includes identity, networking, data and managed-service differences as well as the compute layer. This walkthrough illustrates the transition pattern.

From input to action

How it works.

  1. 01

    Design the destination

Map source services to a target architecture and prepare identity, networks, logging and operating ownership. Identify application changes and data-transfer requirements before scheduling waves.

  2. 02

    Rehearse the application group

Move representative workloads and data into the target environment. Test application behavior, connectivity, performance and recovery with the teams responsible for the service.

  3. 03

    Transition with validation

Execute the agreed cutover, reconcile data and route traffic after acceptance checks. Keep the recovery route and operating support clear through the stabilization period.

What we deliver

  • Source-to-target service map
  • Google Cloud foundation and migration waves
  • Rehearsal, cutover and recovery runbooks
  • Application validation and operational handover

What to measure

Agree a baseline and acceptance targets around the operating outcome.

  • Application acceptance and data reconciliation
  • Cutover interruption against the agreed window
  • Target performance, operating readiness and spend baseline
